Spencer Hospital provides renal dialysis services to patients throughout the region who need this life-sustaining care.

The Milton & Ethel Warner Dialysis Unit of Spencer Hospital opened in August 1994, thanks to the generosity of Milt & Ethel Warner, long-time Spencer community supporters. In August 2002, a satellite dialysis center, the Warner Dialysis Center - Spirit Lake, opened, enabling Spencer Hospital to provide this life-sustaining treatment to more people in need.

Diabetes is the leading cause of chronic kidney failure followed by uncontrolled or poorly controlled high blood pressure. Chronic kidney failure must be treated with regular dialysis or by receiving a kidney transplant.

Dialysis is the process by which the blood is cleansed artificially rather than by the kidneys. Hemodialysis treatments are required three days per week and each treatment lasts approximately four hours.

The Warner Dialysis Centers each provide care every Monday, Wednesday,and Friday. Patients receive regular evaluations from our nephrologist, as well as nursing care and nutrition counseling.

The Warner Dialysis Center of Spencer is located on the thrid floor of Spencer Hospital. The center is open three days each week to provide renal dialysis care, regular nephrology clinics are held at the center providing a convenient location for dialysis patients as well as people with kidney disease who are not in need of dialysis to be seen by a kidley specialist.

Spirit Lake, Iowa

The Warner Dialysis Center of Spirit Lake is located approximately a mile and a half west of the Highway 9 and 71 intersection is Spirit Lake at 3150 18th Street.  The center providea renal dialysis care three days a week and also provides regular clinics for people with kidney disease who do not require dialysis.
