Heart Health Roadshow

Spencer Hospital’s Heart Health Roadshow will be visiting five area communities to offer free support and guidance to promote heart healthy living.

 

“We were looking for a unique way to celebrate National Heart Month and provide area residents with information on how they can take charge of their heart health,” explained Vanessa Moore, Spencer Hospital Marketing Specialist. “The Roadshow is designed to bring us to various communities in Clay County to share information.”

 

The Heart Health Roadshow will be making its way to the following towns during the entire month of February:

 

Peterson Library  2 p.m.  Tuesday, Feb. 8th
Everly Library      10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9th 
Royal  Community Bldg 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14th   
Spencer Hospital   12 noon     Wednesday, Feb. 16th 
Webb Library    10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22nd

 

 

Participants will get a free stroke risk assessment and a blood pressure check. Spencer Hospital’s friendly advisors will give guidance and support to help each person understand how to make real changes in their lifestyle now to reduce the risk of developing a heart condition in the future.

 

There is no need for an appointment, residents can drop in anywhere they see the Spencer Hospital trailer and Heart Health Roadshow banner.

The Heart Health Roadshow will feature topics on blood pressure, stroke screenings, healthy take-home recipes, healthy food substitutions, sodium sticker shock, and even life-saving CPR tips (featuring hands-only techniques).

 

 Spencer Hospital is also encouraging area residents and businesses to take part in the National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 4th to show support for Heart Disease Awareness. Heart disease in the number one cause of death and can be prevented. If someone is in need of a pretty red accessory, Spencer Hospital’s Gift Shop has handcrafted red bead bracelets created by Jo Merrill which she has generously donated during Heart Month to sell for $10 each, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the hospital’s Cardiac Rehab program. Purchase a unique hand-made bracelet and you’ll be able to enjoy a pretty new piece of jewelry and benefit others. The bracelets make great Valentine gifts too!
