Milton & Ethel Warner, longtime community residents and leaders, gave a generous gift in 1993 designated for the creation of a dialysis unit at Spencer Hospital. The Warners recognized the need for dialysis treatment locally, noting that many friends were required to travel hours each week to receive care. The southwest wing of the hospital’s third floor was remodeled to accommodate the dialysis unit and in August of 1994, the Warner Dialysis Unit opened. 

A satellite clinic, the Warner Dialysis Center - Spirit Lake, opened in August 2002. This center is located on Highway 9 in Spirit Lake, approximately 1/2-mile west of the Highways 71 & 9 intersection. 

On-going needs of the dialysis unit and other areas within the hospital can be met in the future through gifts given through the Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation.
