PURPOSE:
This course is being offered to update experienced American Heart Association ACLS Instructors.
INTENDED AUDIENCE:
Experienced American Heart Association ACLS instructors wishing to renew their instructor status.
FACULTY:
American Heart Association ACLS Training Center Faculty of Spencer Hospital are scheduled to conduct these classes throughout the year.
OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:
1. DEMONSTRATE
- Proficiency in using the videos and lesson maps in the instructor manuals
- Use of the testing materials to conduct skills testing
2. EXIT CRITERIA
- Instruct a group on the Megacode team concept.
- Successfully evaluate another student running a Megacode while correctly using the skills testing checklist.
- Successfully remediate another student.
REGISTRATION:
Participants must pre-register one week prior to class.
Spencer Hospital employees register via Healthstream.
Non employees register by calling (712) 264-6117 or send registration form to Human Resource Development department. Pre-course reading/preparation is mandatory for this course, no drop-in registration is permitted.

$125 for those who have access to the required AHA ACLS Instructor Manual.
No registration fee for employees of Spencer Hospital who have HRD approval to attend.
Refund Policy: Full refund (minus a $90 handling fee) is given if a cancellation notice is received less than one week prior to class. No refund if less than 24-hour notice is given. Spencer Hospital reserves the right to cancel this program if there is insufficient enrollment. In this event, every attempt will be made to notify enrollees prior to the event.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Nurses: A certificate of attendance will be provided upon completion of the program. Retaining a program brochure as documentation of participation is strongly encouraged. Nurses determine whether course content meets the Iowa Board of Nursing’s criteria for appropriate continuing education.
EMTs: No CEH’s will be offered for this course.
