Alison Muilenburg Named Director of Medical Oncology at Abben Cancer Center

Spencer Hospital is pleased to announce that Alison “Ali” Muilenburg, RN, BSN, has been named Director of Medical Oncology at the Abben Cancer Center of Spencer Hospital.

Ali brings valuable experience and a deep understanding of patient care to her new leadership role. She has been part of the Spencer Hospital team for the past eight years, serving as a Med/Surg charge nurse and as a key member of the Utilization Review team before joining Abben Cancer Center nearly two years ago, where she has worked directly with oncology patients and the medical oncology team.

Her hands-on experience as an oncology nurse, combined with her strong knowledge of hospital workflows and patient care processes, position her well to provide leadership, continuity, and support for staff, providers, and patients at the Abben Cancer Center.

“Ali is a great fit for the Director of Medical Oncology role,” said Brenda Tiefenthaler, President of Spencer Hospital. “Her clinical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care make her an excellent choice to support our medical oncology team and the patients we serve.”

Ali shared her enthusiasm for stepping into the leadership role, saying, “I am honored and excited to lead such an outstanding medical oncology team at the Abben Cancer Center. Our team is deeply committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care, and I look forward to supporting our providers and staff as we continue to care for patients and families throughout every step of their cancer journey.”

In her new role, Ali will work closely with the dedicated medical oncology team at the Abben Cancer Center, which includes Dr. Louis Cuervo, MD; Jolie Threlkeld, MSN, ARNP, FNP-BC; and Kayla Heller, ARNP. Together, this team delivers compassionate, coordinated care for patients and families, with comprehensive services that also include radiation oncology provided by Dr. D.B. Nguyen.

Abben Cancer Center of Spencer Hospital provides comprehensive cancer treatment, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, and surgical services. The center treats most forms of cancer in adults, including breast, prostate, colorectal, bladder, gastrointestinal, kidney, lung, lymphoma, skin, blood-related cancers, and many others. Board-certified oncologists work closely with each patient to develop a personalized treatment care plan tailored to their individual needs in the fight against cancer.
