Providing an opportunity for fun, fellowship and philanthropy, the Abben Cancer Center Golf Classic will take place at Emerald Hills Golf Club on Sunday, Aug. 26. Currently, committee members who represent a number of communities in the region are seeking sponsors, auction items and golfers.

“Each year over 100 sponsors come together to help raise dollars in support of regional cancer care provided by Abben Cancer Center,” said Melissa Cunningham, director of Abben Cancer Center. “Those dollars are used to support a range of needs, including patient care technology to patient care items, such as wigs or head coverings, and everything in-between.”

Businesses can choose from a variety of sponsorship levels. A bronze level sponsorship offers brand recognition in event marketing materials as well as an individual personalized sign on the course. Silver, gold and platinum level sponsorships afford donors the opportunity to join in golf for the event, and in some cases include complimentary green fees.

“We have a support level to fit everyone’s donation budget,” said Gayle Brandt, committee member. “Some businesses choose to hole sponsor a sign while others opt to do a larger sponsorship which includes joining us for the day’s event. All levels of support are beneficial and much appreciated. We encourage anyone not already involved to contact us. We can never have too much support.”

Individuals are also encouraged to get involved. As an individual, you may opt to donate an item or service for the charity auction, or to register a team for the day of golf.

“Each year we have 144 golfers that play 18 holes of golf to support an important community service,” said Randy Rohlfsen, owner and golf pro at Emerald Hills Golf Course. “Additionally, we feed you lunch and supper, offer on-course games and chances to win prizes. It’s always a great day.”
