Annual Campaign to Support First of its Kind ALEX Simulation Manikin

posted on Thursday, November 16, 2017 in Foundation

Each year the Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation engages area community members to raise dollars for a project that will enhance healthcare provided at Spencer Hospital.

This year, donations to the annual campaign will assist in purchasing both a high fidelity adult and pediatric simulation manikin.

Unlike a typical manikin, the ALEX simulation manikin will integrate speech recognition and response (think Apple Siri or Amazon Echo) into a realistic patient care experience.

This new technology will offer:

  • A range of easily accessible learning opportunities, including scenarios difficult to obtain in real life.
  • The freedom to make mistakes and to learn from them without the need for intervention by experts to stop patient harm.
  • A customized learning experience to accommodate a range of learners from novices to experts.
  • Detailed feedback and evaluation to help both learners and instructors target necessary improvements.

ALEX will be utilized by the very doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals that care for you and your loved ones.

Your gift to this project, or any department of Spencer Hospital that you are passionate about, touches lives. You can give online through our website here. To benefit this project, select “Annual Campaign” in the drop-down box that states: “I would like my gift to go toward.”
