Jamie Billings, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, will serve as the primary healthcare provider for the newly established Hartley Family Care of Spencer Hospital, which will open later this summer.

A resident of Hartley, Billings will support the health care needs of people in her home community and the surrounding area, from birth to geriatric services.  She is currently the primary family medicine practitioner at Milford Family Care of Spencer Hospital.

At Hartley Family Care, Billings will provide general family practice services including preventative care, treatment of episodic illness, physicals, chronic disease management and referral to specialists.  She specializes in diabetes management, cardiac issues such as heart failure and coronary artery disease and women’s health issues.

“I’m very excited to join the Hartley Family Care team,” said Billings.  “I’m looking forward to ensuring local access to healthcare services for O’Brien County residents and help each patient focus on their good health. I’ve greatly appreciated my patients and team at Milford Family Care and will actively support the smooth transition to a new primary care provider for the Milford clinic.”

Billings has led the healthcare team at Milford Family Care for the past four years. Previously, she served as a family nurse practitioner with Dr. Stephen Veit in Cherokee for the 13 years.  Billings graduated from Augustana College with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa.  She received her Master’s degree as a nurse practitioner from South Dakota State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

As a registered nurse, Billings worked in coronary care intensive care units in Sioux Falls, SD and Evanston, IL. She also served as organ recovery coordinator for the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s liver, kidney and small bowel transplant program.

“We’re fortunate to have someone with Jamie’s experience and compassion to lead our new healthcare team at Hartley Family Care,” said Bill Bumgarner, Spencer Hospital president. “She has extensive experience in providing family medical care to all ages.  In addition to offering a familiar face in her home community, Jamie is an exceptionally kind person who cares deeply about the health and wellness of her friends and neighbors.”

Hartley Family Care will be located within the clinic space of Hartley’s Community Memorial Health Center. The family medicine clinic will be managed by Spencer Hospital in collaboration with Avera Medical Group Spencer.

Spencer Hospital will be offering updates about the opening date for Hartley Family Care and appointment scheduling opportunities as clinic operation preparations are finalized.  Recruitment is  underway for a new family medicine provider for Milford Family Care.
