While decrease of bone density is a natural occurrence in aging, steps can be taken to enhance bone health and decrease a person’s risk of osteoporosis-related injuries and illnesses. Dr. Dan McGuire, spine specialist with Iowa Spine Care of Spencer Hospital, will speak at a free lunch and learn event on Tuesday, Dec. 4th at Spencer Hospital.

“Osteoporosis can affect anyone, yet women are especially at high risk for developing the disease due to their smaller, lighter bone structure,” explained Susan Zulk, spokesperson for Spencer Hospital. “Dr. McGuire will provide valuable insight on how you can improve your bone health and take preventative measures now to lessen the chance of major spine health issues later in life.”

The program will begin at noon in Spencer Hospital’s conference center and will conclude prior to 1 PM. A complimentary light lunch will be served, courtesy of the Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation.

There is no cost to attend this event; however, pre-registration is requested for planning purposes. To register, call Spencer Hospital’s education line, 712-264-6142 and leave your name and contact number, or register online
