Garden of Life Blooms with Memories

posted on Friday, May 12, 2017 in Foundation

Community members are invited to join in creating the annual Garden of Life in Spencer Hospital’s Grand Avenue Park. Each donation given in memory of a loved one or in honor of a special caregiver to the Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation and Hospice of Spencer Hospital during the Garden of Life campaign will be represented by a blooming plant in the hospital park. The campaign is currently underway and a special planting ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 31st.

“Following the death of a loved one, our hospice team continues to offer grief support for family and friends,” explained Colleen Paulson, Director of Hospice and Community Health Services. “One way we help honor those loved ones is by offering opportunities to commemorate them. One such experience is the Garden of Life.”

For over 30 years, Hospice of Spencer Hospital has been providing support to families wherever they need care - in the home, in a care facility, or within the hospital. “Over those years, we’ve had the privilege of providing end-of-life care for many people and have made long-lasting relationships with their loved ones,” Paulsen said. “We enjoy the opportunity the Garden of Life planting event offers for us to gather together to celebrate those lives.”

While the Garden of Life campaign highlights Hospice of Spencer Hospital services, gifts can be designated to any department of the hospital and can memorialize or honor anyone near or far.

A flower will be planted in the Grand Avenue Park to symbolize each gift and a seasonal marker will be displayed listing each gift intention.
