Remember a time you exerted yourself and had difficulty catching your breath? For people living with chronic lung disease, the feeling that comes with shortness of breath is all too frequent. Yet, there’s help available. A pulmonary rehabilitation team, such as the experienced cardio-pulmonary team at Spencer Hospital, can help improve the health and lifestyle options of people living with chronic lung disease.
Pulmonary Rehab can help participants:
- Improve ability to perform daily activities
- Increase knowledge of lung disease and how to manage symptoms
- Increase self-esteem and confidence
- Improve adherence to healthy lifestyle choices
- Reduced anxiety
Spencer Hospital’s staff includes registered nurses and certified strength and conditioning coaches. Spencer Hospital’s Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).
March 10-16, 2019 is National Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week. The theme for the week, “Improving Life, One Breath at a Time,” honors both the individuals who struggle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and the professionals who provide treatment options to improve patients’ everyday lives.
