Fun Day of Golf Supports Abben Cancer Center

If you love spending a day on a beautiful golf course with good friends and appreciate the opportunity to provide support to people undergoing cancer care, the Abben Cancer Center Golf Classic is the event for you!

On Sunday, Aug. 27 the 2017 Abben Golf Classic will be held at Emerald Hills Golf Club. The charity event includes both lunch and dinner, 18 holes of “best shot’ format golf on a beautiful course with carts provided, gift items, prize opportunities, a charity auction and more! Fabulous hole-in-one prizes available on every par 3 hole, a putting contest and boat shot competition.

“It’s a wonderful day of camaraderie and golf which is made even sweeter by knowing proceeds from the event go to support Abben Cancer Center,” commented Mindy Gress, Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation Executive Director. “If anyone would like to join us Sunday, we do still have some openings for foursomes and for individual golfers.” The registration fee is $125 per golfer.

Melissa Cunningham, Abben Cancer Center director, noted: “My favorite part of the day is right before everyone tees off. Emerald Hills owner Randy Rohlfsen provides a welcome and some brief instructions, and then we have one of our cancer survivors provide a few brief remarks of how meaningful it is to see people from throughout northwest Iowa gather to support the care being provided through Abben Cancer Center. Those heartfelt words serve as a great reminder of why we all come together for the day.”
