Hartley Family Care of Spencer Hospital will begin offering patient services on Wednesday, August 17. The family medicine clinic will be open four days each week – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday – from 8 AM to 5 PM. The clinic is located at the Community Memorial Health Center facility in Hartley.

Jamie Billings, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, will serve as the clinic’s primary healthcare provider.

“I’m very excited to join the Hartley Family Care team and look forward to establishing care relationships with patients in the region,” said Billings.  “As a resident of Hartley, I know how important convenient access to healthcare services in a rural community is to individuals and families.”

To help facilitate patient scheduling prior to the opening date, prospective patients can call (712) 928-1020.  A clinic representative will assist to schedule an appointment and answer questions about the process to transfer medical records to the Hartley clinic as may be needed.

“I know many citizens in O’Brien County are anxious to establish a relationship with Hartley Family Care,” said clinic manager Danette Forbes.  “We’ll be working hard to support everyone through the initial process so we are well prepared for each patient’s visit.”

Billings has led the healthcare team at Milford Family Care for the past four years. Previously, she served as a family nurse practitioner with Dr. Stephen Veit in Cherokee for the 13 years.  Billings graduated from Augustana College with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa.  She received her Master’s degree as a nurse practitioner from South Dakota State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

As a registered nurse, Billings worked in coronary care intensive care units in Sioux Falls, SD and Evanston, IL. She also served as organ recovery coordinator for the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s liver, kidney and small bowel transplant program.

Billings will provide general family practice services including preventative care, treatment of episodic illness, physicals including DOT physicals, chronic disease management and referral to specialists.  She specializes in diabetes management, cardiac issues such as heart failure and coronary artery disease and women’s health issues.

In addition to family medical care, Hartley Family Care will offer laboratory, diagnostic imaging and physical therapy services.  The clinic will be managed by Spencer Hospital in collaboration with Avera Medical Group Spencer.
