Knowing and understanding available services for health care are important for aging adults. To provide such an informational opportunity, Spencer Hospital is hosting a free health fair for seniors on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 9 AM-noon in the hospital’s conference center.

“The health fair will provide a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the many services available to help people assess their health and to assist in reaching their health goals,” explained Susan Zulk, vice president of marketing and fund development at Spencer Hospital.

Numerous services of Avera Medical Group Spencer and Spencer Hospital will be featured at the “Navigating Health Care” Senior Wellness Fair.

“We’re planning a fun and informative day with many hands-on activities and opportunities to visit with health professionals regarding services,” Zulk said. “Our team will provide a number of health assessments, including balance screenings, blood pressure checks, diabetes foot screenings, and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to test mobile devices such as scooters and lift chairs, to get your flu or pneumonia vaccination, and to visit with a medical social worker regarding advanced directives.”

Also, attendees will be able to schedule their annual wellness visit, learn more about medication storage and management, receive nutrition tips, and ask questions about joint replacement surgeries and other beneficial procedures. “These are just a few of the activities planned for the event,” Zulk commented. “The wellness fair is also a nice opportunity for adults with aging parents to come learn more about options for care and wellness, including home health and hospice services.”

If interested in being immunized that day, please preregister here to assist staff in planning supplies and individual documentation.

Complimentary valet parking services will be available and light refreshments will be service. “Bring your friends, come for a cup of coffee, and learn more about services available to assist you in your wellness goals,” Zulk encouraged.
