Give the Gift of Life: Donate Blood
posted on Thursday, January 22, 2026
January is National Blood Donor Month, a reminder that the need for blood never slows down, even in winter. At Spencer Hospital, we see every day how vital a strong blood supply is for trauma care, surgeries, childbirth support, and cancer treatment. In 2025, our hospital used 700 units of blood, each representing a patient in urgent need.
We rely on LifeServe Blood Center to provide safe, high-quality blood, which our lab tests and manages to ensure the right types are available when patients need them most. Local blood drives make donating easy and convenient, and your donation could directly help a neighbor, friend, or family member.
Donating is simple, safe, and takes less than an hour. Whether it is your first time or a regular habit, giving blood is one of the most direct ways to support our community.
Upcoming January Blood Drives:
- Jan. 26 – Peterson Community Legion Hall
- Feb. 2 – First Congregational Church Spencer
- Feb. 10 – Spencer Hospital, Bloodmobile Bus
- Feb. 16 – First Congregational Church Spencer
