At Spencer Hospital, we know that recovering from a heart condition can be challenging, and taking steps to improve your heart health is essential for long-term wellness. Our Cardiac Rehabilitation program is designed to help patients regain strength, build confidence, and adopt healthy lifestyle habits after events like heart attacks, heart surgery, or other heart conditions. With personalized care and guidance from our dedicated team, patients can take meaningful steps toward a stronger, healthier heart and improved quality of life.
What is Cardiac Rehabilitation?
Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program to improve heart health after a cardiac event or diagnosis. The program combines monitored exercise, education, and lifestyle support to help patients regain strength, improve endurance, manage risk factors, and feel confident being active.
Our team customizes every session to each patient’s needs, helping them understand their condition, manage medications, improve breathing and stamina, and reduce stress.
Who Can Benefit from Cardiac Rehab?
Patients recovering from heart attacks, heart surgery, stent placements, or heart failure benefit from our program.
Sessions are led by registered nurses and certified exercise professionals specializing in cardiac care. Patients receive individualized exercise programs, monitoring, and education on heart health, nutrition, stress management, and lifestyle changes.
Knowing Your Numbers
Knowing your blood pressure is a key part of your health. Our weekly Blood Pressure Clinic is now held every Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Cardiac Rehabilitation department in the lower level of Spencer Hospital. This free service helps the community track blood pressure, ask questions, and better understand heart health.
Taking the First Step
Starting cardiac rehab can feel intimidating, but it is one of the safest and most effective ways to recover. Patients often report feeling stronger, more confident, and more in control of their health. We guide and support every patient along the way.
A physician referral is required to start Cardiac Rehabilitation, and Cardiac Enhancement is available to individuals needing medical supervision during exercise. For questions about Cardiac Rehabilitation, Cardiac Enhancement, or the Blood Pressure Clinic, visit our website or call (712) 264-6178.
