Urology
Spencer Hospital provides a broad offering of urology care to the patients in northwest Iowa. In addition to the routine treatment of kidney stones and urinary issues, Spencer Hospital is one of two sites in Iowa that offer the highly-successful fluorescence surgery for bladder tumors using blue light technology.
Most common urologic procedures performed are:
- Cystoscopy with treatment for kidney stones. This may involve retrieval of the stone, or placement of a stent, and a second surgery known to us as ESWL.
- Electronic Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) is performed to break up kidney stones so they can be passed from the body.
- Prostate resection
- Bladder tumor surgery
- Circumcision
- Numerous other urological procedures
