Public Health Impacts Us All
Public health touches our daily lives in ways we may not always realize. Through preparation, partnership, and action, we work to improve health outcomes, prevent illness, and strengthen our community. From supporting families and promoting wellness to preparing for emergencies, public health plays an important role in helping people live healthier lives.
Prevention and Protection
At Clay County Public Health, prevention is at the heart of what we do. Programs like Best Care for Better Babies provide support for pregnant women and infants, while I-Smile helps promote early childhood dental health. Car seat safety checks, childhood immunization clinics, and vaccines for adults help protect children and adults from preventable injuries and illness.
We also work behind the scenes to monitor communicable diseases, respond to public health concerns, provide education on issues like cancer and lead poisoning prevention, and partner with local agencies to help protect community health and safety.
Promoting Healthy Living
Public health also means helping people take proactive steps toward wellness. Through free blood pressure screenings, a blood pressure monitor loan program, community education, and support programs like the breast cancer support group, we offer resources that empower people to take charge of their health and connect with support when they need it.
Preparation for Emergencies
Emergency preparedness is another important part of our work. From disease outbreaks to natural disasters and other unexpected events, planning and response efforts help ensure our community is ready and able to respond quickly when challenges arise.
Stronger Together
Public health is all around us, from prevention and education to emergency response. It takes strong partnerships and a shared commitment to build a healthier, stronger community for everyone.
